This residential project is located within the heart of Haute Vallée Regional Natural Park de Chevreuse. The site itself lies downstream along the edge of teh Yvette Canal, close to the Château de la Madeleine, a castle dating back to the 11th century.
To design a contemporary building in an area with a strong cultural heritage. By virtue of the sensitivity our site inherited, a number of regulatory/architectural constraints were incorporated into the project.
The design originates from simple volumes interwoven together. The loggias are a strong feature, emblematic of our project. These tailored exterior spaces form “nests” along the façade. The play of shapes is also emphasized by the contrast in materiality, primarily dark bronze coloured concrete and light stones. The architectural design has been prefaced by consideration to the environment, leading the project to a sustainable outcome. The old stones of the site have been reused and green roofs have provided a smooth insertion of the project into its surrounds.
