Context

This private high school is located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, a preserved area of the city, 500 meters from the Hôtel Matignon.  It is made of two different buildings: a Hôtel Particulier of the 17th century that is regularly renovated and a contemporaneous building that was built in 2016.

Challenge

To build a contemporaneous building in an area with a strong historical identity in the center of Paris.

Concept

The design is modest and simple. Its Northern façade facing the Hôtel Particulier, this building echoes the monument’s strong cultural heritage.  In addition, the use of concretal lasur and of translucent glass walls inscribes it well in our times.  The objective was to make this educational establishment sustainable and adaptable.  Students’ well-being was explored on many levels: air quality, temperature, acoustics, presence of natural light and use of recycled materials.
